Supervision at Night
Once the campers are settled for the night, our counsellors take the opportunity to have free time. In order to ensure that the children are well supervised, staff members are assigned On-Duty posts for 2 or 3 cabins. For campers in our youngest unit, (ages 7-10) one staff member remains behind in each cabin. Because these campers are never alone, this helps to alleviate home-sickness and ensures that the children settle down more quickly.
Home Sweet Home
From the moment they walk through the door of their new home away from home, our youngest campers (ages 7-10) have an immediate sense of comfort. All of their bags are unpacked for them, cubbies are organized, cosmetics laid out and beds are made – including a favourite stuffed animal from home. Over the years we have found that this eases the transition and allows the children to immediately go out and enjoy the fun at camp! After grade 4, the campers have to fend for themselves!
